How Much Does It Cost to Launch a Beverage Brand?

Build a beverage startup budget that includes development, production, commercial execution, and working capital.

Liquid Opportunities editorial library · Adapted from the Liquid Opportunities founder library. Updated November 6, 2026.

Define the launch you are funding

A production run is one line in a launch budget. A supported market launch also needs packaging development, quality work, logistics, sales execution, account support, and cash to keep operating while inventory sells. Define the category, pack, initial market, and route to market before comparing budgets.

Separate one-time and recurring costs

List formula development, testing, design, business setup, and packaging tooling separately from production and ongoing sales support. Ask each partner what is included, what is excluded, and what would trigger an additional charge. Confirm ownership of the formula, artwork, and manufacturing specifications.

Cost the first run

Multiply the agreed production quantity by the landed unit cost. Confirm whether that figure includes ingredients, packaging, co-packing, quality checks, waste allowances, and freight. Minimum orders may differ for liquid production, printed cans, cartons, and ingredients. Build the budget around the quantities you must actually purchase.

Fund sell-through and reorders

Account for distributor and retailer economics, introductory promotions, samples, field activity, storage, and payment terms. Model a slower sell-through case. Inventory can consume cash before the business earns enough to fund a reorder. A launch needs a cash plan as well as a gross-margin calculation.

Build a scenario you can change

Use the launch budget planner to enter your own assumptions. The sample values are illustrations rather than a market price or a quotation from Liquid Opportunities. Ask for current supplier quotes and compare at least a base case, a slower-sales case, and a larger-production case.

Where lo fits

Liquid Opportunities helps connect product development, manufacturing coordination, pricing, launch planning, and commercial execution. A scoped assessment starts with what you already have, what remains to build, and the market you intend to serve.
